Week 33

Weekly Greetings,

I hope you all had a joy filled weekend with family and friends! It was so much fun to watch the egg drop last Friday, and what a wonderful tradition the Walter Northway School has created with that event! I tried to snap some photos of the eggs being dropped, but my camera was too slow...I am posting a few photos that did turn out all right.
This week we have two important events I want you to be aware of. The first is that we will be taking a field trip to Tok on Wednesday. Please look over the permission slip attached to your child's homework packet and return it on Tuesday. We will depart the school at 9:00am and go to the music room at the Tok School so that the students can experience the large instruments, like the drums, etc. At 11:00am, we will go to the greenhouse to look at the new plant starts. This will tie into our new science unit on organisms that are living things. We will eat lunch at the Tok School, then go over to the Post Office for a tour. The students will get to stamp a letter to send to Northway, and we will see how long it takes to go through the system from Tok. Writing a letter is part of their writing assignment this week, so a trip to the Post Office will work in nicely. If everything goes as planned, we should be back to Northway in time for the students to take the bus home.

The second event is the 3 Quarter awards ceremony on Friday. I am not sure of the time yet, but a letter should go home from the principal this week. Be looking for it!

Last week, the students planted more plants as a part of our new science unit. We will be looking at woodland and water plants this week, in addition to some unusual animal organisms. The pictures to follow are of the students in science on Thursday.
Please remember that we are going outside for recess as much as possible, and that your child has appropriate clothing for this time of year.

Have an awesome week!

Kind Regards,

Julie Brown
