Weekly Greetings!
It was great to be back to a full week schedule last week and it flew by. In Science, we got deeper into the Soil unit and the students used four of their five senses to describe three main soils. We also have Red Worms that are part of the Science unit and we are observing them as they are compost materials in soil. Below are a few photos of the students exploring the soils.
I am so pleased at how well the class works together. The older students are always will to help the younger ones. In the next photo, one of the second graders is helping a few younger students work on their beginning sounds using the SMART board.
On Friday, we read an alphabet story for enrichment and later the class made letters with pretzel bread dough. After the pretzel letters were baked, they got to eat them with nacho cheese sauce. I only got a few good pictures, as most turned out a bit blurry. The class was wonderful about helping to clean up, as it was a little messy. Much thanks to our aide, Dena, who made sure they were baked to perfection!
As for upcoming activities, this Thursday the students can participate in a Cross Country track meet in Tok. Everyone has said they want to go, and Mr. Holmes will be organizing the permission slips. Also, on Friday we will have "Show and Tell" and your child may bring something to share on that day.
I hope you have a great week!
Kind Regards,
Julie Brown
